Land:Plains-The plains in Russia are the Northern European Plain and the West Siberian Plain. The Northern European Plain is located on the western side of Russia and the West Siberian Plain is west of Siberia and east of the Ural Mountains. The Northern European Plain (Russian Plain) had fertile land and the West Siberian Plain is one mile of flat land. Water Systems- The five Siberian Rivers are the Ob, Irtysh, Yenisey, Lena, and Amur. The first 4 flow north and the Amur flow east. Mountains- the Ural Mountain create the border between east and west Russia. The Caucasus is the highest point, located between the Black and Caspian Sea. Mount Elbrus is an extinct volcano in the Caucasus Mountains.

Climate and Vegetation: The climate zones in Russia are Tundra,Subarctic, Humid Continental, and Steppe. The Tundra is a treeless plain that
covers 10% of Russia. The Subarctic is the biggest climate region. Chernozem is a rich, fertile soil.

Population and Culture: Russia is made up of more than 70 ethnic groups. The current population of Russia is 141,930,000. The southeastern parts of Russia are the home to the Kuban steppes and Caspian Sea, Black Sea, and Volga River. The Caucasian people consist of Chechens, Dagestanis, and Ingush. Early Life:The Great Ivan III achieved many things while he ruled. Some of these things include; ending the Golden Harde, tripling the territory size, renovating the Moscow Kremlin, and laying the foundation of Russia. During the Time of Troubles (1606-1613) Russia had many different leaders and many civil wars but made it through in the end. Along with the civil wars there were many foreign interventions, a Russian famine (1601-1603), Moscow was set on fire, and at the end they lost a lot of land. Movements For Change: There is a big movement going on to separate the North Caucasus from Russia. Roughly 60% of the population considers this. Some of the Russian nationalists are trying to create a Russian-majority republic to exist on a constitutionally equal basis with North Caucasians.

Natural Resources: Russia is at the bottom of economic success. Only 25% of Russia's GDP is directly linked to natural resources. Some of the factors of this are the growing population, the increasing physical scarcity of resources and the industries that are reducing raw materials. Trade: The United States and Russia's trade was at $35.7 billion in 2008. This widened the trade deficit and outweighed the decline of 2006-2007. Almost all of US energy products and chemicals came from Russia that year. Also, 3/4 of Russia's imports from the US were transportation equipment, machinery, and agricultural products. Environmental Use/ Concerns: Russia has been dumping nuclear waste into the Arctic Ocean. They have also been putting other waste products into their surrounding water bodies.
